A native of the Bronx, NY, self-taught photographer Edwin Jimenez’s interest in capturing the world around him began at a very young age. As a highly active and athletic child. Edwin’s love for sports was surpassed only by his curiosity about photography.
In his early 20′s Edwin moved to Atlanta, GA and while working as an electrician there. Began to teach himself the technical aspects of photography in his spare time. Naturally gifted and a quick study. It became apparent that Edwin had both the passion and raw talent to pursue a career in photography and he made the leap from a stable career as an electrician to the fast paced world of commercial photography. Completely self-taught, Edwin quickly became one of the top first photo assistants in Atlanta working with local fashion and advertising photographers such as Liz Von Hoene and Jim Fiscus. Looking to expand his experience and grow as a photographer himself. Edwin return home to New York City in 2004 and again rapidly became one of the most sought after photo assistants in the business. Edwin has circled the globe working with noted music, fashion and advertising photographers including Tom Munro, Christian Lantry, Jeff Riedel, Daniella Federici, Jim Malucci, Simon Harsent and Peter Lindbergh.
In 2007, Edwin Co-Founded Playground Industries. A production and location specially service company. Support in production, equipment rental, lighting and staff for photography shoots in the New York City area.
Currently Edwin has been shooting portraits and advertisements for clients such as VH1, Sony Music, Universal Records, the NBA and Pepsi. Edwin has been working on a couple of personal projects in New York and traveling abroad while in between shooting for clients that involve sports athletes and landscapes.
